Take this blog post for example:

http://lifebikin.blogspot.com/2009/09/todays-topic-weekend-bike-camping.html

This group biking to Lake Herman spent money at the state park plus a couple of meals in town. Building a bigger network of trails will attract many more bikers like these who are happy to spend money in town, which benefits everyone.

I'm not saying that justifies eminent domain...just saying trails benefit every single person in a community.Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05937655360187979029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15329279.post-19852380993647473362009-11-05T13:17:59.315-07:002009-11-05T13:17:59.315-07:00I agree a bike trail would be nice. Look at other options.nonnienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15329279.post-88121629332957276502009-11-05T13:04:26.476-07:002009-11-05T13:04:26.476-07:00True, most people don't bike. The bike trail we now have is nice, but when you get to the end of the trail, what is there to do compared to Herman State Park. Just a thought.

DarwinAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15329279.post-36704645608777599732009-11-05T10:48:50.408-07:002009-11-05T10:48:50.408-07:00Unfortunately the biking community is just too sma...Unfortunately the biking community is just too small. Eminent domain should really only be used when it will benefit the vast majority. While we bikers may say to ourselves that it will benefit everyone that is certainly not true. I have a feeling the city fathers will have a tough time arguing a Lake Herman bike path is such a project.caheidelbergerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03261598066395322681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15329279.post-82925560005012413902009-11-04T12:58:55.640-07:002009-11-04T12:58:55.640-07:00We went through a huge issue extending the bike pa...We went through a huge issue extending the bike path here in Vermillion (even after offering money for the land we were going to use). The discussion of Eminent Domain took place and we were warned that such cases rarely win or gain public support.bikingbradyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15237387648226879348noreply@blogger.com
