Adam and Amanda -- Two More Miracle Kids!

These Miracle Kids came in pairs! Adam and Amanda were born at 27 weeks. Amanda came out at just 2 pounds 3 ounces. Adam was in even tougher shape; his amniotic fluid had broken at week 16, and that affected his development, leaving him just 1 pound 12 ounces at birth.

The kids spent three months in the NICU. CMN kicked in with help for mom Sandra and dad Chad on their travel and meals on their 45-minute drive down to Sioux Falls. More importantly, CMN provided vital equipment to the NICU. The doctors had to try three different ventilators before they found one that worked with Adam's tiny lungs and would keep him alive. That third machine finally helped Adam, and of course those machines CMN provided the NICU now help lots of other kids.

Adam and Amanda both made it out of the hospital and are now a healthy and happy five years old. They appeared on this year's CMN fundraising poster, and Sandra and Chad were happy to bring them here to help out on Miracle Treat Day.

Sandra also noted that she is mightily impressed with the community effort -- not just the Mork effort, but the whole Madison effort -- to make Miracle Treat Day a smashing success. It's only in a small town like Madison, Sandra says, that an event like this can be a real community-wide get-together, the one big event that everyone in town knows about about and can rally around. Thanks, Sandra, for the good words and for your Miracle Kids' story
