Looks Like CMN and DQ Better Do Another Fundraiser...

Once upon a time, someone said something about "compassionate conservatism." But now, "Bush Threatens to Veto 'CHIP' Funding" [Matt Belanger, KELOLand.com, 2007.08.10]. Just one more reason this blogger switched parties. I guess we'll need to sell more Blizzards....

  1. Hey Mr. & Mrs. Mad. Enjoyed your blog --was sent here by Mike's sis Linda who peruses the internet much more faithfully than I do. Great read. E.

  2. Thanks! Glad to have you online... and glad not everyone is as addicted to the Internet as I. Enjoy the sunshine today!

  3. This is really disconcerting. I cannot imagine the hundreds of thousands of South Dakota children that will be affected by this veto. I can't imagine a better place to spend more than 5 Billion $$ than on our Nation's children and their future, but I guess that's just me. Locally this would affect my tiny town in an enormous way... I know for a fact that over 10% of our community of 500(ish) is at or below poverty level and most of not all those 10% take advantage of these important federal health insurance programs. Hopefully this news station is only (staying consistent) reporting more negative stories for us to worry about. I pray the President makes the right choice and continues funding CHIP.

  4. If the President were thinking about real people like the kids in Rani's community instead of politics, signing the legislation would be a no-brainer. For a President who claimed Jesus as his most influential political philosopher, re-authorizing S-CHIP would certainly seem to be the Christian thing to do....

  5. Maybe if the administration would quit spending so much on Iraq, they could afford to add more funding for the CHIPS program. This president really should stop and think about WWJD.

Exactly! I knew you would eventually see it my way! Charity belongs in the hands of private individuals, not communist bureaucrats. Every self-starting act of morality could inspire another 37 blog-posts... you'll never find that kind of altruistic fever buzzing about a government office paying health claims with federal tax dollars. Every voluntary act of goodwill is a news-worthy occasion... and if we take my favorite philosopher's sayings in Matthew 25 seriously, it just might save people's souls. (Paying taxes doesn't.)
