Madison DQ -- Not Just Like Family... It Is Family!
Believe it or not, this is not a DQ employee! This is Lois, DeLon's aunt, who drove all the way from Wisconsin just to help out around the store on Miracle Treat Day (well, that, and to see her nephew's son!). She's been making the rounds cleaning tables and helping out behind the counter all day.
This is Lois's first Miracle Treat Day (hey, it's only DeLon's and DQ's second!), but she's made many a visit to Madison since her brother DeWayne moved to Madison in 1959 and bought the Madison Dairy Queen, a going operation since 1952, from Mary Holly in 1960. Since then, during 35 years teaching elementary and now volunteering with Nature's Edge Therapy, Lois has gotten to know many Madison folks and enjoys coming to see family and friends here in South Dakota.
But Lois is off and running again -- we're coming up on 5 p.m. Blow the whistle, get ready for the supper crowd!
