McGovern Calls for Impeachment

Former South Dakota Senator George McGovern is at the top of the Washington Post's "Most Viewed Opinion Articles" list this evening with his call for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney.

Uff da. Read Northern Valley Beacon for one passionate take on why McGovern is right.

I assume McGovern will be reversing his endorsement of Senator Clinton's presidential bid tomorrow to throw his support Congressman Kucinich, who has not only voiced support for impeachment but has filed articles of impeachment against the Vice-President.

  1. "Uff da," indeed. McGovern's words are as reasoned and eloquent as one could hope for from such a respected elder statesman. What blows me away is the passion and clarity of his call for impeachment. These are not words crafted to equivocate or to consensus-build around the lowest common gripe. They are the words of someone unafraid to speak a hard, even shameful, truth about a nation he loves. Would that modern politics had fewer Bushes, Cheneys and Romneys (and, to be bipartisan, even Clintons and Liebermans) and more McGoverns.
