Father Cathal Gallagher of DeSmet faces deportation in one week, assuming the bureaucrats don't find the priest's permanent residency application that they lost in some desk in Washington, DC. The good father got some good press
in that Sioux Falls paper on Sunday; now SDPB gives Father Gallagher a chance to tell his story on the air. Listen to Father Gallagher
tomorrow (Wednesday) noon on Dakota Midday.
Just another pitiful example of our gov't in action. A good man serving others and we can't figure out how to treat him right.
ReplyDeleteThe bittersweet part of the whole story is the fact that even if he is allowed to stay in the country, he'll be reassigned to a new congregation, because the bishop has already assigned a new priest to the parish.....
ReplyDeleteSo because of bureaucratic incompetence a pillar of the DeSmet community is being forced to leave.
ReplyDeleteAnd you wonder why I have no faith in the Federal Government!
