- Newell holds a three-day Labor Day extravanganza, culminating Monday with the 50th Annual World Champion Sheep Teepeeing Contest.
- After 70 years, the Black Hills Passion Play stages its final performance Sunday.
- Sue the T-Rex spends her last weekend at the Faith Line Historical Museum.
- The Peter and Paul Wendinger Band play Polka Day Monday p.m. at the Wagner Armory.
- Oh yeah, and there's Lifelight just outside of Sioux Falls... featuring a 5K road race Saturday morning, all-you-can-eat pancakes for $6 Saturday and Sunday a.m., and paintball! ;-)
But with all this sunshine, I think a couple bike rides and a nice long family walk in Lake Herman State Park will be all the holiday excitement I will need. Enjoy the weekend!
Here in Vermillion area, we have an annual, last-blast townie (and gownies-cum-townies) party out at the Fill-Hill place in Volin on the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe highlight of the party (besides the three or four tables groaning under the weight of delicious food) is always retired English Prof. Norma Wilson's red-sequined leotard-wearing flaming baton act.
Have a great weekend!

sequins, leotards, and flaming batons -- three things South Dakota definitely needs more of! :-D
ReplyDeleteSounds like a hoot and half -- thanks for letting us know, Rebecca! Have fun!
