No, it's not a movie about Finals Week.
Dakota Grassroots Democracy, South Dakota Resources Coalition, and the SDSU Sierra Club are hosting a showing of The Age of Stupid on Saturday, December 12, at 1 p.m. at the Brookings Public Library. Pete Postlethwaite plays an archivist paging through the records of our destroyed civilization and wondering what went wrong.
Part documentary, part speculative fiction, the film is likely scarier than 2012, as the "villain" is not some unstoppable cosmic force, but our own inability to choose science and responsibility over arrogance and wishful thinking.
After the film, Pete Carrels of the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal Campaign will anchor an open discussion session about the film and what's happening in Washington and Copenhagen to keep The Age of Stupid from making the leap from cinema to history. Bring your questions!
