Ballot Order Set: GOP Gets Top Billing

Pastor Steve Hickey gives me good guidance this morning. The District 9 House candidate helps me find the ballot order drawn by Secretary of State Chris Nelson. If you go to the Candidate List on the Secretary's "Upcoming Election" page, then scroll all the way to the right, you will see the numbers that tell you the order in which candidates will appear on the South Dakota ballot. Evidently the earth's magnetic field aligned just right to turn the luck of the draw in favor of Fox News viewership:
  1. Constitution
  2. Republican
  3. Democrat
  4. Independent
Pastor Hickey cites some inside baseball from campaign academy: he says first or second position tends to give a candidate 1 to 3 extra percentage points—an interesting quantification of the inattentive voters. Golly: that must mean Constitution Party candidate for Secretary of State Lori Stacey will finish November 2 with 1 to 3 percent of the vote!
