Blizzard Count from Lana!

6986!
The Madison Dairy Queen sold 6986 Blizzards yesterday, doing more than its part for Children's Miracle Network on Miracle Treat Day. That's one Blizzard for every man, woman, and child in Madison, plus a lot of people coming in for seconds. That's 537 Blizzards per hour, or just about 9 a minute during the 13 hours Madison DQ was open yesterday.

From another perspective, that's 3183 more Blizzards than Madison DQ sold during last year's Miracle Treat Day, an almost 84% increase.

Lana just called and updated the number she gave me at noon -- DeLon found a few more Blizzards in the records. She and DeLon both are as amazed and grateful as anyone else. No word yet on how 6938 compares with the other 5400+ Dairy Queens across the continent that participated in this event. Sioux Falls 26th and Marion DQ? others? We look forward to your updates!

And the winner of the pool: Josh Pauli! His guess of 7000 put him just 14 off the final tally. For his effective guessing, Josh receives coupons for 10 free Blizzards! After polishing off so many Blizzards yesterday, I'm not sure how many Madisonites will be eager to chow down on some more right away, but Josh, give me a shout, and I'll get those coupons to you whenever you're hungry.

Receiving no prizes but a hearty "Hi-ho!" from the Madville Times are brothers Toby and Josh Uecker, whose guesses were the second- and third-closest, respectively. Smart fellas, those Ueckers!

By the way, KJAM has posted a couple of good pictures from Miracle Treat Day. The top picture shows International Dairy Queen President and CEO Charles Mooty in front of the Madison Dairy Queen with DeLon and a herd of Miracle Kids and their moms. The bottom picture shows DeLon and his whole staff at the counter, ready to make ice cream and other good things happen.
