DQ gets a visit from local boy Liam, who is Children Miracle Network's "State Champion" for this year. Liam has cystic fibrosis and goes to the CF clinic in Sioux Falls for regular treatments. Because of his CF, Liam's mom has been home-schooling him in the winter to keep him from getting exposed to a lot of the typical illnesses that spread like wildfire among kids in the winter.
Liam doesn't let CF get him down though, and thanks to his bright smile and articulate manner, Liam was nominated to serve as a spokesperson for South Dakota's CMN kids. He's just starting his duties for CMN, attending an event this morning at Baughman Park to launch a rocket for CMN. Among other events, Liam and his family will get to go to Orlando next march for a national CMN gathering.
Liam's dad, DSU's Alan Montgomery, says that they used to live in the Twin Cities and took Liam to a clinic there. They're fortunate to have the resources as close as Sioux Falls to help Liam. And that's the kind of help CMN can provide close to home for all South Dakota kids who need it.
