Talk about hustle -- for the second year in a row, the Madison Dairy Queen sold more Blizzards on Miracle Treat Day, August 9, than any other Dairy Queen on the continent. Madison Dairy Queen owner and ice cream icon DeLon Mork tells KJAM that his store sold 7011 Blizzards that day (a slight upward revision from initial reports!). Out of over 5,000 Dairy Queen stores continent-wide, the closest anyone could come to Madison's mighty showing was an Alabama DQ that sold 4,700 Blizzards for the Children's Miracle Network.
Hearty congratulations go out to DeLon, Lana, and the whole crew at the Madison Dairy Queen on a champion performance, as well as to the good (and hungry!) folks of Madison for turning out for a good cause. Now get back to burning off those calories and making room for next year's Blizzards -- next Miracle Treat Day is only 312 days away!

Alabama's results this year would have beaten Delon's results from last year, had Delon and his team not geared up and taken their efforts to an entirely new level. Congratulations to them and our community and the surrounding towns and employers that stepped up, allowing Madison's DQ to be returning champs! As other DQ's pursue Delon's record, where do we go from here? 10,000 in one day? Let's do it!
ReplyDeleteBut if it wasnt for DeLon setting the mark last year, would it be safe to say Alabama wouldn't have pushed themselves to sell even more?
ReplyDeleteWhile its nice to have this little competition among the stores, the real winners in this are the kids and families that are helped by the Children's Miracle Network!
Hear, hear, J1! Just one man pushing for excellence can inspire everyone else to strive higher. Then everyone wins... especially, in this case, the kids.
