Barack Obama has appealed to those who recognize the cheap, malicious, and partisan-bound discourse that is purveyed by the media and its emulators as them biggest impediment to decent, intelligent government. He is the only candidate who has shown that he wants to lead America into the enlightened state so many of us want to be [David Newquist, "What I Know About Obama," Northern Valley Beacon, 2008.05.04].
Give David's full text a read. After wading some cheap and malicious commenter discourse, it's a pleasure to hear Newquist's voice again urging us toward a better politics.
Thanks for the welcome and acknowledgment. We have our best chance to restore America to what it can and should be.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you, David, for reminding us this isn't a game; picking the right man for the job can make a world of difference.

ReplyDeleteWhat is that enlightened state?
I have a 3-foot-long shelf of books devoted to the attainment of enlightenment. The more I read about it, the less I know about it. And the funny thing is, I suspect that is precisely what the authors are aiming at.
This uneasiness, this cloudiness, this wooliness of mind, is at the core of my doubts about Barack Obama as a suitable candidate for the office of President of the United States.
Someone please enlighten me! And no, I am not being sarcastic.
