Verbatim: Palin Aide Defends Africa Mix-Up... and Obama

I told myself I was done with the Poison Girl... but I can't resist:

However, [longtime Sarah Palin staffer Meg] Stapleton told ABC News the Fox News report on Africa and NAFTA was taken out of context. She explained that during a briefing session, someone asked Palin to explain the McCain-Palin stance on an issue, and as she was responding, "in the middle, she said 'country of Africa' and somebody instantly wrote it down and said, 'Oh, my God, she thinks it's a country.'"

But "she knows it's a continent," Stapleton said. "It was just a human mistake, just like Obama saying 57 states. I don't think anyone ever doubted that Obama knows there are 50 states" [Kate Snow, "Palin Aide Fires Back at Reported McCain Camp Slams," ABCNews.com, 2008.11.07].

Of course not. What right-minded citizen would ever try to foster such doubt?

  1. It's amazing! What comes out after the election.

    The Vetting?

  2. Why are the McCain staffers trying to toss Sarah Palin under the political bus. She was their choice, not the other way around. Just because she has scruples, is head-strong, speaks her mind, and refused to stand up with a pro-choice congressman at a rally, now they disown her? Sounds like my kind of leader, actually. I'm guessing that even if McCain has chosen Huckabee or Romney, the outcome would be the same. At least people paid attention to his ticket with Palin as his running mate. She'll be back, better-prepared, in the future.

  3. Don't forget Obama mistakenly said "my muslin religion" and then quickly corrected it to "my christian religion".
Afterall this a mistake I make almost weekly by referring to my church as muslim, I mean Christian. Can't keep that straight in my mind.

  4. Wow, Anon 10:49: must you keep lying to yourself? If you can doubt Obama's Christianity, then I can doubt yours.

  5. I've been told Obama's book refers to his love for his father's Muslim religion. I've not read the book and haven't taken time to verify it, but it should be easy to verify if it is true and he did say that.

  6. "I've not read the book and haven't taken time to verify it..."

    So what's your point?

  7. -------------------------------
And while we're veering off the topic, I sure don't know about that Sarah Palin. If she were a real Christian, she would have pushed a religious agenda as governor. She never explained her religious beliefs during the campaign. All I heard was her bearing false witness and immersing herself in materialism. I also hear she pulled out of a church she was going to in Wasilla. Hm, sure makes me wonder if she's solid in her faith. I bet she's not really a Christian; she just mentions God for show. I'm a better Christian than Sarah Palin.

So, does anyone really want to keep up the petty little "I know a Christian when I see one and Obama is not a Christian" misinformation?

  8. So what if Obama "campaigns" in the Islamic states? I think that's a good idea. But he had better "campaign" in Israel, too.
