DSU instructor Chris Olson was in an awful car wreck nine years ago this week. Alcohol was the cause. The crash killed his fiancée Tana Thompson and put him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
Chris wasn't the driver in that crash—Tana's brother Marty was at the wheel. But Chris takes his own share of the blame for what happened. Chris has made this video about his experience, his mistake, and his loss for South Dakota's Parents Matter campaign.
Watch the video. As we head for prom and graduation, show your kids. Show them Chris's own story about his long relationship with Tana and what he lost because of a single bad decision.
