Update 2008.08.04: Whoops! That ad I saw on the Madison Daily Leader website turns out not to have been an official goal. DeLon Mork of the Madison Dairy Queen had mentioned that number as a possibility during a visit with the MDL ad department last month; that informal number then worked its way into the ad. DeLon asked the paper (and me!) to pull that copy and replace it with the official goal, based on some solid calculations and a whole lot of ambition, of 8,000.

DeLon Mork must be feeling ambitious—the following images blink along in an ad on the Madison Daily Leader website:
10,000 Blizzards in one day? Wow! That's quite a jump from the nation-leading 7,011 DeLon and the Madison DQ crew moved on Miracle Treat Day 2007. DeLon avoided making numerical predictions last year, so he must be feeling confident.
And if anyone has cause to feel confident, it's the Madison Dairy Queen. The shop was able to increase its Miracle Treat Day sales by over 3,000 last year, so 10,000 this year is conceivable, although it will take a lot of hustle.
The population of Lake County has grown to 11,372, so we might be able to do it ourselves... but help from our neighbors in Howard, Oldham, Montrose, Humboldt, and other fair cities is welcome! (Heck, Todd, even you are welcome! ;-) Don't worry, I won't plug up the RSS feed this year.)
So start working out now, Madison! You have one month to burn off those extra calories and make room for 10,000+ Blizzards on August 7!
