IgniteSD was a blast in Brookings—it'll be magnificent in Madison!
Organizers have just announced that IgniteSD will hold its second event at our favorite coffee house, Mochavino, right here in downtown Madison on Tuesday, May 25, 7:30 p.m.
To review: Ignite is a social event for folks to get up and tell each other what matters. The topic is wide open: pick something you're passionate about and tell us about it! Maybe it's a new idea you have, a gadget you'd like to build, a project you're working on. Maybe it's a job or a trip or an adventure you had. Maybe it's an amazing experience you think other people need to hear about. If you think it's worth sharing over beverages at the electronic campfire, then the floor is yours!
The format asks that each speaker "enlighten us, but make it quick!" You prepare a five-minute speech and back it with a 20-slide presentation. Each slide displays for 15 seconds, then automatically switches to the next one.
I tried it at IgniteSD #1 and loved it... but it takes a little practice! (Any story worth telling is worth practicing.) If you'd like to take a swing at the mic, give IgniteSD organizers John and Scott Meyer a shout. You can also drop me a line—I'm helping set up the Madison event.
And if you don't want to take the mic, then come take a seat and listen to the most interesting speeches you'll hear on Madison's Main Street this year!

Update: note revised start time at 7:30 p.m.

Yes, igniteSD will be great, I encourage all of you, fine readers, to give it a try, speak up, or at least plan to attend, and be sure bring a few tomatoes for Cory, that will keep him on message!
ReplyDeleteSo Madison, the stage is ours, before Sioux Falls and Vermillion too, how about that!
